New Open MRI and other technology
New Open MRI
If you’ve ever had an MRI, you know how difficult it can be to lie still in a narrow tube. MRIs with open sides were developed to relieve feelings of claustrophobia. But this design made them weaker, so the MRI study took longer. Lehigh Valley Hospital now offers the best of both worlds. “Our two open MRI systems are among the finest available anywhere and the first of their kind in eastern Pennsylvania,” says Lynne Fowler-Blatt, radiologic technologist. “They are as powerful and fast as traditional MRIs, but with the open design for greater patient comfort.”
An Easy Way to Say ‘Get Well’
Friends and family now can send greeting cards or flowers
to patients in Lehigh Valley Hospital without having to drive to the hospital
gift shop or phone a florist. You can order these items directly through the
hospital Web site.
The Latest on Technology
Lehigh Valley Hospital is one of just a handful of hospitals nationwide "wired" to give you the best care. The latest innovations: electronic technologies in the emergency and operating rooms. The new T-System replaces traditional paper charts in the ER with an electronic version that caregivers can access from a laptop, for more accurate and detailed patient information. And a new Anesthesia Information Management System in the OR provides automated documentation of vital signs and other key measures, freeing anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists to focus on their patients.
